John Warham feels there is a mistake at his being rated as a Midshipman in Ordinary on the Defiance as he cannot pass examination for a Lieutenant without serving the limited time over again. The books show he was rated as Midshipman Ordinary from July 1745 to April 1746 and the allowed number of Midshipmen are borne for the same time
