John Clevland. Receipt of letter from Commissioner Cooper asking if the Regiment formed out of the workmen at Chatham and Sheerness should be exercised as usual each Saturday in the afternoon or when the Service allows. He has proposed that a Lieutenant and 50 men should mount guard every night and patrol alternately until the watch is relieved in the morning. Commissioner Hughes has also proposed the entering of 48 additional watchmen to patrol the Yard at Portsmouth at night as was done in the late War. Do not think it necessary to patrol at night
