Description (What the record is about)

John Clevland. Receipt of an account of fees due to and money disbursed by Edward Busby, late Marshall of the High Court of Admiralty, for December 1749-May 1751. Have examined the account and find Mr Stone, Deputy Marshall of the Admiralty, charges by the day for attending Rear Admiral Knowles and each of the five Captains tried at a court martial and for subsistence and lodging and opine the charges are unreasonable. The Marshall and Mr Stone have also charged for their attendance and disbursements during the time Vice Admiral Griffin was in custody and tried at Chatham. There is a charge paid to John Osbourne at the Pauls Head alehouse at Doctors' Commons for the subsistence and lodging of people in custody for which Mr Stone accounted inaccurately and ask for directions
