Thomas Corbett. Have received accounts of embezzlement of new iron which have increased since the smiths' work, formerly done by contract, was taken into the King's own hands. The present system is no cheaper as was intended. A comparison of such work done by contract and in the Yards shows that it costs £17,000 more to do the work in the Yards. Propose that the work is done by contract again in future which will also make the number of thefts decrease and that this is done in only one or two yards at first
