Description

Thomas Corbett. A contract has been signed with Henry Bird to build a 44-gun ship to replace the Lichfield and to use the serviceable remains of the old ship. There are many instances of such a practice in the reign of William III where 90-gun ships were built using old parts. The practice ended in 1713 but has been resumed since 1739 and enclose a copy contract
