Reference
SC 8/146/7287
Date
[1305-? 1320]
Description
Petitioners
Executors of Philip de Wylughby.
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The executors of Philip de Wylughby request payment of 200 marks, owed to Philip by the King in arrears of his fee, from the time when he was Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Nature of endorsement
A writ of Chancery is to be sent to the Treasurer and Barons to assign to the executors debts that are owed to the King up to the sum which the King owes Philip, and that they are to have those debts allowed to those who owe the aforesaid debts.
People mentioned
Philip de Wylughby (Willoughby), formerly Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Note
According to Tout (Chapters in Mediaeval Administrative History, vol. II, p.108), Philip de Wylughby died as Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1305. The petition might come from the end of Edward I's reign, or from the reign of Edward II, but the Latin endorsement places it as probably before about 1320.
