Robert Topclif states that on the feast of the translation of St Thomas the Apostle, in the King's seventh year, Robert Malmerer came to the manor of Arncliffe with force and arms, and drove off certain cattle of his, which he is still holding, despite pledges and warrants for their delivery, so that the Sheriff and King's officers in the county cannot have delivery of them. He asks the lords to ordain in the present parliament for him to have a writ to the Sheriff of Yorkshire to make a proclamation that Robert Malmerer is to return the animals within fourteen days, or appear before the justices of King's Bench on the fifteenth day to answer to Robert Topclif and to explain why he has not done so, giving the justices power to hold a plea on this, and to determine it and make execution.
