CIM 1307-49 no.726, an inquisition into John Mautravers' lands in Philipston, states that the manor was taken into the King's hand at the Purification 1322. This petition probably dates from shortly after that time. Charlton, in Horton parish, is now only a farm to the south of Wimborne St Giles, while Phillipston is deserted.
