Nature of request
Copy of letters patent of Edward III, dated 20 September 1373, granting for life to John Dunmowe, servant of the larder of the King's household, a tenement in the parish of St Gregory by St Paul's, London, formerly in the hands of John Marreys, deceased, and now in the King's hands on account of debts owed by Marreys to the King.

St Gregory by St Paul's parish, London
People mentioned

John Dunmowe, servant of the larder
John Marreys (Mareys).
Note
An order to deliver seisin of this messuage to John Dunmowe, given on 30 November 1382 (CCR 1381-5, p.191), recounts the events surrounding this dispute. It states that the messuage was delivered, on surreptitiously obtained letters, to John Marreys in July 1381, and that Dunmowe then successfully petitioned for its return. It seems highly likely that this copy of Dunmowe's 1373 grant was submitted by Dunmowe in support of that petition, rather than with Marreys' petition to which it is now attached, and given the chronology recounted on the close roll, this probably occurred during 1382.
