SC 8/122/6100
Date
[? c. 1320]
Description
Petitioners
Ellen de Lympet (Limpet).
Name(s)
de Lympet (Limpet), Ellen
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Ellen de Limpet states that her husband, the king's receiver, had been unable to levy the rents on the manor due to the poverty of the tenants and the destruction caused by the king's Scottish and Irish enemies. She therefore requests that the outstanding £60 be allowed on the account, and that she be allowed to retain her lands there.
Nature of endorsement
Coram Rege.Pay the arrears.
People mentioned
John de Limpet, husband of the petitioner.
Note
Dated on the guard to? c. 1320, but any evidence cited is now illegible. The place concerned is described simply as 'the same manor', and thus is either also named Limpet (which has not been located) or the petition is one of a series and refers to a manor mentioned elsewhere. The reference to Irish and Scottish enemies suggests that the manor lay in Ireland.
