Date
[c. 1324]
Description
Petitioners
Thomas Leuekenore (Lewknor).
Name(s)
Leuekenore (Lewknor), Thomas
Addressees
Council.
Nature of request
Thomas Leuekenore states that the king's officials are demanding that he pay homage for his manor of South Mimms, which he holds of the Earl of Hereford. He therefore requests that it be examined as to whether or not the Earl's property is forfeit.
Nature of endorsement
He should be brought into the Chancery and do fealty, and have a writ of respite for the homage at the will of the King.Coram Magno Consilio.
Places mentioned
South Mimms, Middlesex.
People mentioned
[Humphrey de Bohun], Earl of Hereford.
Note
Dated on the guard to? c. 1324, but with no evidence cited. However, the document is clearly similar to others in this file dating from around this time, and the reference to forfeiture of the earldom of Hereford would seem to date it to the period between the death of Humphrey de Bohun at Boroughbridge in 1322 and the succession of his son in 1327.
