Extract from a handbill of the Gazettier de Cologne: Boetzlar for the states general and Wassener for the Brussels government have jointly presented a memorial to the king complaining that in councils of war the British and Hanoverian generals are constantly thwarting Arenberg and Count Maurice of Nassau. At a council convened to consider this, the king declared his intention of crossing over to take command of the army himself. All present except Carteret opposed this, and the king submitted. It was resolved that the British and Hanoverians should be put under Arenberg's command on the same basis as the Dutch. f. 39
