General Chanclos [to Carteret]: of Major General Reade's four regiments, three have marched to join the army and one has remained in Ostend to strengthen the garrison. The effects to be expected of Prince Charles [of Lorraine]'s crossing of the Rhine. French action against Veurne. He will follow Wade's instructions to send the highlanders to the army. [Continued next day]: the convoy has not left because of contrary winds. Surrender of Veurne. Dated at Ostend. ff. 202, 203
