Count Nassau to Wade: his surprise that no British or Hanoverian troops are to reinforce the frontier towns in danger of being invested. If they do not contribute to their defence, no more than five Dutch and four Austrian battalions can take the field. Each nation must contribute proportionally to the defence of the country. He encloses a resolution [SP 87/14/57] of the states general to that effect. It is Britain against which France has declared war, and the Dutch remain auxiliaries. Dated at Brussels. ff. 90, 91
