Description

Josiah Burchett. The College of Physicians recommend the use of Elixir of Vitriol in the treatment of scorbutick cases and it should be supplied in the Surgeons' sea chests. The Admiralty have asked what amounts should be available according to the rate of vessel and the climate of the areas where ships serve. Ask for the advice of Dr Cockbourne, Physician of the Greenwich Hospital, as he carried out a similar exercise in connection with his treatment of the flux
