Nature of request
The petitioners state that Dene was one of the owner of a ship called 'the Gabriell' of London, Vache was one of the owners of a ship called 'the George' of London, and atte Wood was a victualler of them, and the ships have been commission to be armed and manned to keep the sea, and it was granted to the petitioners by letters patent that they would not b e troubled for any offences committed by the mariners and soldiers of these ships. The mariners and soldiers seized two hulks and took the cargos, and the owners complained, and although the petitioners had noting to do with the matter and took nothing from the goods they have been arrested and imprisoned in the Fleet Prison. They request that they the chancellor take sufficient surety from them to answer anything laid against them, and that they be delivered from gaol.
