Nature of request
The petitioners request that they be discharged of escapes to sanctuary or have another remedy in the dispute with the four orders of friars in York concerning their right to the escapes of felons, which are imperilled as a result of felons fleeing to sanctuary in the churches of the friars.
Nature of endorsement
Let custody [of felons] be according to the law and custom of the land and if anyone, lay or clerk, makes a dispute he shall be arrested and respond according to the law.
