Nature of request
Thomas Cock states that Robert de Hongerford, appointed to inquire into, and to seize into the King's hand the lands and tenements, goods and chattels of Gilbert de Elsefeld and other rebels in Berkshire, in the King's fourth year, seized the free tenements he had of the lease and gift of John de Elsefeld and of Gilbert de Elsefeld. He asks that he might be restored to them, as neither Gilbert de Elsefeld nor any other rebel had any estate in them after the King's fourth year.
Nature of endorsement
Certain faithful people are to be appointed to inquire into the truth of the contents of the petition; and when the inquisition has been returned and Thomas's deed has been examined, justice is to be done to him.
