[? c. 1391]
Description
Petitioners
Robert Bays.
Name(s)
Bays, Robert
Addressees
King and lords of parliament.
Nature of request
Robert Bays states that he bound himself by a statute to pay Morgan Goof 25 marks, and that indentures were made between them on this matter, that the statute would lose its effect if the money was paid. Morgan however refused to seal these indentures, as he had sworn to do, but instead had his clerk take them away, and, although Robert was ready with the money before the appointed day, he has refused this money, and is suing for execution of the statute. He is also causing Robert's lands and tenements to be valued at well below their true value. Robert has suffered damages of £200 over eight years, but because the indentures were not sealed can have no remedy at common law. He requests a writ of audita querela against Morgan, notwithstanding the fact that the indentures were not sealed.
Nature of endorsement
This petition is to be sent to Chancery, and the Chancellor, by authority of parliament, is to have the parties appear before him in Chancery, and there, when he has carefully seen and examined the matter contained in this petition, and heard the arguments on both sides, there is further to be done, by authority of parliament, what justice and reason and good faith and conscience demand in the case.
Places mentioned

People mentioned
Morgan Goof.
Note
Dated on the guard to '? c. 1391' without explanation. The hand and wording of the endorsement are identical (with one word's difference in the wording) to that of SC 8/95/4709.
