- Brunton requests the king's aid as the king appointed him mayor of Berwick after its conquest and made him attend solely to it and since that time he has been unable to trade his merchandises throughout the realm whereby he has lost greatly, and has been put to great expense in the defence of the town, and without aid he will been unable to maintain his office.
- Nature of endorsement
- He should have £10 as the mayors were accustomed to have as their fee, and a further £10 of the king's gift, and a writ is to be ordered to the chamberlain there to pay him.
