SC 8/87/4328
Date
[1320]
Description
Petitioners
Henry Squirel.
Name(s)
Squirel, Henry
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Henry Squirel states that his land has arbitrarily been taken into the King's hand by the Escheator, as can be seen by the writs and inquisition made on this at his suit and returned in Chancery, and asks that he might have a writ to the Escheator to remove the King's hand, as neither the Chancellor nor William de Ayremynne wishes to do anything without the council's advice.
Nature of endorsement
[None here: endorsement found on SC 8/87/4330] It seems to the council that, if the inquisition on this is returned in Chancery, the lands and tenements should be restored to Henry, together with the issues, notwithstanding the reason contained in the wirt. And so, when that inquisition has been examined in Chancery, justice is to be done to him there on this.
Places mentioned
Essex.
People mentioned
William de Ayremynne (Airmyn).
Note
A note at the start of this file, dated 3 May 1932, states that 'The petitions in this file are copied in R. C. Transcripts I. 156, and appear to form part of an original file of petitions to the parliament of Michaelmas 1320. Cf. Parl. Proc. (Chancery) 5/4'. This would agree with the attached writ and inquisition (SC 8/87/4330 and SC 8/87/4329), both dated to August 1320.
