- [Only part of this petition survives.]The clerks of Oxford University make two requests:1) They state that inquisitions for death and wounding are often too favourable [to the burgesses of the city], and that to avoid deceit and conspiracy, new measures [no longer legible] might be taken for the holding of inquisitions.2) They complain of fraud in the measurement of wine and ale, which cannot be convicted [missing due to damage to ms.] and ask that the Chancellor [missing due to damage to ms.] the weights when it is necessary [missing due to damage to ms.].
