Nature of request
Grey requests grace and remedy concerning the manor of Overstone. His great-grandfather bought the manor from Millers. Millers held the manor by lease for his life, and at his death the manor was taken into the king's hand by the minority of Henry de Grey, and it has remained in the king's hand and the Greys have not been able to have their right, and it has now been given to the earl of Mar for his life.
Nature of endorsement
Let a search be made in Chancery, and by a writ of the great seal to the Exchequer that all the evidences concerning the right of the king in the manor, and let the king be certified, and afterwards let the party be warned and reason be done.

Note
The petition has to date to after February 1318 when the manor was granted to the earl of Mar. The guard suggests that the petition may date to 1320 like other petitions in the file, though there is no evidence to confirm this. The adoption of a date of c. 1318 takes in the possibility of this later date.
