- Having regard for the tenth with which the clergy of England are charged, remedy is requested against the abbot of Cluny who has newly purchased and started to levy many tenths from all the priories and churches that are of his patronage to the great impoverishment of the land.1)

- It seems to the council, if it pleases the king, that it is part of the abbot's fee to demand such tenths during the charge of the tenths for four years to the use of the pope and the king.2) It pleases the king.
