Nature of request
Richard le Venur and Alice his wife state that they had brought a writ of novel disseisin against Walter de Aynho, James de Columbers, John de Columbers, as is contained in the record attached to the petition, and wished to convict James of drawing up a false document, through the witnesses named in the record, the justices refused to allow this, but wished to proceed to hold the assize without the witnesses. Richard and Alice ask that he might be convicted of this deceit before the King's council, and that justice might be done to them.
