Nature of request
Selling requests that he order a writ to the sheriff of Kent to enquire of the disseisin of his lands, rents and advowson in Sheldwich and Selling by Badlesmere by force and arms, or to provide some other remedy. He has been unable to recover the lands because of Badlesmere's power, and they are now in the king's hand by Badlesmere's forfeiture.

People mentioned
Bartholomew de Badilesmere (Badlesmere).
Note
The petition dates to c. 1322 as it refers to the manors being forfeited by Bartholomew Badlesmere to the crown. In addition a related and clearly contemporary petition (SC 8/74/3658) refers to an earlier plea to a parliament at York of which there were three in 1322 and none thereafter in Edward II's reign. As inquisitions were being held concerning the manors in 1323 and 1324 the petition may be as late as 1324.
