Nature of request
Richier de Refham and John his son state that they had purchased for term of their two lives a tenement in Cold Norton in Essex, from the Prior and convent of Bicknacre, and the King had confirmed that lease by his charter. However the Escheator wilfully and without good reason took those tenements into the King's hand, with all their goods and chattels found there, and has refused to release them, although they have had the King's writ for this. They request a writ under the targe to William de Neuport, Sub-escheator of Essex, to deliver their tenements to them.
