- The scholars of the University of Oxford state that the scribe who wrote the charter of their franchises has, through negligence, written 'the Lord Edward, formerly king of England, our grandfather', instead of 'father' as it should be. They ask that this might be corrected.

- The charter is to be seen and examined in Chancery, and if the defect is found to be in the clerk's negligence and not otherwise, then the charter is to be corrected and amended.

Note (Additional information about the record)
- Dated on the guard to '? 1378' with reference to CChR 1341-1417 pp. 152 & 247, but the petition must date from the reign of Edward III. Another hand dated it to 'poss. 1356', but gives no reasons and admits that the hand looks later.
