- The Friars Preachers of Newcastle upon Tyne state that when the Earl of Warwick was warden in those parts and lodging in their house, their gates were broken down during a dispute between his men and the men of the town, who have not allowed them to replace the gates since. They request permission to construct new gates, and a charter allowing them to stand forever. They also ask the king to forbid anyone to knock them down in future, on pain of all he can forfeit.

- CPR 1340-3 p.352 is dated 6 December 1341, and is clearly a response to this petition. Northumberland Petitions no.103, pp.126-7 also dates to 1341.
