Bedford to Cumberland: he is satisfied with the provision in the preliminaries for the restitution of conquests in the West Indies in six weeks and the East Indies in six months, but is concerned at the term of six weeks being applied from Cape St Vincent to the equator, as it is at odds with the king's proclamation for the cessation of hostilities. He will consult with the chancellor [earl of Hardwicke] and [Henry] Pelham. Dated (OS) at Whitehall. ff. 18, 19
