Sandwich to Cumberland: on the receipt of his first letter, Byng had declared the cease fire would take place in six weeks but on receipt of that from Bedford had informed Belle-Isle that it would take a further six weeks. He encloses a copy of Bedford's orders [SP 87/25/20], which he considers to be founded on a mistake, a copy of the convention which preceded the treaty of Utrecht [SP 87/25/21], the king's recent proclamation [SP 87/25/22] and Queen Anne's proclamation [SP 87/25/23].
