Description

Three maps originally drawn to accompany report of 30 April 1830 by Henry A Morshead, Col CRE. (3) 'Out Lines of the Islands of Malta, Gozo & Comino shewing the present Towers, Redoub[ts] and Batteries forming the Coast Defences ...'. Scale: 6 inches to 7 miles [1:73,920]. Compass indicator. An explanation of the letters and figures is given in Morshead's report. (4) 'Rough plan of the Defence of Rabato and fort Cha[m]bray ...'. Scales: Castle Rabato 2.125 inches to 110 yards [1:1,864]; Fort Chambray 4.1 inches to 110 yards [1:965]. (5) 'Plans and Sections of the 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd Class of Towers and Redoubts on the Coasts of Malta, Gozo & Comino ...'. Scales: towers 5.5 inches to 110 feet [1:240]; redoubts 2.85 inches to 110 feet [1:463]. Each sheet is signed by Morshead. Dimensions of sheets: (3) 44 cm x 79.5 cm; (4) 43 cm x 54.5 cm; (5) 43 cm x 53 cm.
