Extension of clemency of the Crown to William Rollins, an incendiary: reports reasons for declining to accept the recommendation of the chief justice on the subject. A Colonial Office official comments that incendiarism [arson] is a very common crime in Barbados, and there may be much exaggeration in the rumour that connects it with the confederation scheme. Colonial Office minutes only in item; despatch printed for Parliament as C 1539 of 1876.
John Pope Hennessy, Governor in Chief Windward Islands, Barbados No. 33. Folios 79-81.
