The petitioner seeks compensation of £1000 and the chastisement of certain wrongdoers. He shows that Aymer de Valence was recently appointed keeper of England (while the king was in France), and Richard Duraunt and Simon son of Jordan le Carpenter came with other unknown wrongdoers and spied upon the petitioner as he came from Westbury and wickedly attacked him in Shalstone the Saturday before St John the Baptist, and they assaulted and wounded him by which he lost his hand.
