Nature of request
Response to the writ sent to John de Roches by Edward III, stating that he has found by inquisition that the people of Guernsey were accustomed to use such money and of such value as is used in the Duchy of Normandy for payments to the King of France, and that the king takes a rent every three years called monetagium, to preserve this money in this state.
