Nature of request
The petitioner seeks payment from those who broke into his grange without deed or warrant from the king (who was at Pontefract) or from any of his ministers and took eighteen thraves of wheat, five bushels of peas, hay, thirteen quarters of oats, and eighty bushels of barley. They also took an iron cooking pot, covers for a feather bed, five feather pillows, two iron axes, a greave of iron, and other things. And when the petitioner approached them to recover his costs they refused to pay.
