Description

William Giffard, knight.
Name(s)
Giffard, William

Nature of request
The petitioner seeks the return of the manor of Haseley in Oxfordshire, which he cannot accomplish through the law of the land without an appeal to parliament. Thomas [Brotherton] granted the manor to the petitioner for the term of his life for his service, and he continued in seisin for more than four years. The same Thomas then passed the manor into the king's hands, who granted the manor to William Bohun and the heirs of his body, thus ousting the petitioner from his freehold.

It is judged through the petition that the manor is in other hands than those of the king. Apply to the common law.
