Name(s)
de Cokefeld (Cockfield), Richard

Nature of request
The petitioner states that he is bound to the king in a certain sum of money, which is demanded from him by summons of the Exchequer. Simon de Cockfield, Simon de Cockfield, knight, and the king are bound to him in a certain sum as appears by two bills. He requests that the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer be ordered that this be allowed to him to the amount that he is owed.
Nature of endorsement
Nothing because it concerns a debt of the progenitors of the king.
People mentioned
Simon de Cokefeld (Cockfield)
William Passelewe
Simon de Cokefeld, knight
Roger de Northburgh, Bishop of Chester (Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield) and Keeper of the Wardrobe.
Note
The petition is certainly after May 1322 when Northburgh ceased to be keeper of the Wardrobe. In addition the petition refers to Northburgh as bishop of Chester, and he only consecrated bishop on 27 June 1322. However, the guard notes date this to 1327 and after on the basis of the response to the petition that refers this to being a debt owed by the king's progenitors.
