- The commons request that the points that are granted by the king's charter to the chancellor, masters and scholars of the university which are against the common law and oppress the commons be repealed, and to grant a liberty to remove the party of action. The charter granted that the chancellor and his commissioners not be impeached by any suit of the king or parties by writ of false imprisonment or otherwise and are able to summon members of the laity before the chancellor for pleas of trespass, contract and debt, and imprison them until they make satisfaction, though no such debts, agreements and contracts have been made to them.
