Name(s)
de Blaunkfrount, Thomas
Addressees
King and council
Nature of request
Blaunkfrount shows that in the time of Edward I he was in the service of the king, and was captured in Scotland in the company of Fitz Marmeduke. In the time of Edward II he was again taken in the company of Mountfort at the battle of Stirling until his kinsmen made a fine and ransom for his deliverance. For which Edward II granted him £40 to be taken per annum at the Exchequer for his life until £40 worth of land was found. Because his letters were destroyed by Despenser, and he was subsequently imprisoned for his adherence to the earl of Lancaster the king granted to him by his letters the £40 per annum until £40 worth of land are found. He requests that he be paid.
Nature of endorsement
Let this petition be ordered into Chancery, and let there be searches made to see if the grant of which this petition makes mention was repealed by the ordinances or not. And if it wasn't repealed, the chancellor is to call before him the treasurer to treat with Blaunkfrount and make a reasonable agreement with him.
