Nature of request
Hugh de Audele and Margaret his wife state that amongst other things, Edward II gave them the castle of Oakham with advowsons and all other appurtenances, including the advowson of the church of North Luffenham, to which Hugh presented a priest. However, the Earl of March gave the king to understand that he had the right of presentation, and procured the presentation of one John Norman, his clerk, who has arranged for the king's attorneys to sue a writ of quare impedit against Hugh and Margaret, and to continue to sue, allowing no issue. Hugh and Margaret ask the king to revoke this presentation, producing the transcript of a letter of Edward II, revoking the mistaken presentation of one John de Coloyne at the last vacancy.
Nature of endorsement
The justices before whom the plea is pending are to be ordered that the plea is not to be further delayed, but, calling the king's serjeants, and having heard their arguments, they are to proceed to render judgment in the said plea, according to the law and custom of the land.

Note
This petition must date from the reign of Edward III, from references to Edward II as the father of the present king, and from before, or shortly after, the death of Roger de Mortimer in November 1330. CPR 1327-30 p.540 is dated at Woodstock, 14 July 1330: this might be the original presentation, against which Hugh and Margaret are petitioning, or it might be a later reaffirmation of Norman's presentation.
