Nature of request
The petitioners state that they have been greatly impoverished by grants and alienations made by predecessors of the abbot. They request that the king grant that the chancellor and the chief justices of the Benches have power at the abbot's suit to summon before them those people who have received such grants and alienations, and if any were made against faith and conscience and to the prejudice of the monastery that then they be declared void. Those who have paid more than they have received in profits should be satisfied for them at the discretion of the chancellor and justices.
