Nature of request
William Fayrok, parson of the church of Fretherne, in the diocese of Worcester, states that James Clifford, who had purchased the manor of Fretherne, expelled him from the church and had him falsely indicted for felony and rape. Afterwards, despite letters patent from Richard II, and the support of the Bishop of Worcester and the Archbishop of York, he could not recover the church, but James' power and threats have kept him out of it since 10 Richard II; and James has taken the petty tithes, the lands and all the profits. William requests that he might be restored to his church and its profits.
Nature of endorsement
James Clifford, mentioned in the petition, is to be summoned before the council on a certain day to be arranged by the said council; and when the parties have been heard, justice is to be done to them on the matter contained in this petition.

Note
A note on the guard says '1402, Probably attached to 1082-3', and the similarity of the response to that to SC 8/22/1082A suggests that they are contemporary.
