Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/20/965
Date
[1382-1385]
Description
Petitioners
John Hende, citizen of London.
Name(s)
Hende, John
Addressees
King and council.
Places mentioned
London
Bradwell, Essex.
Coggeshall Essex.
Nature of request
John Hende states that he had sued in various courts for the manor of Bradwell near Coggeshall in Essex, which had been seized into the king's hand, but ceased his suit when he learned that it was displeasing to the king, and put himself on the king's grace. He requests that the king and council ordain a fine for him for the said manor, as seems reasonable to them.
Nature of endorsement
To the king himself [i.e. this petition is to be delivered to the king himself].
Note
The petition dates from after the submission of the case to the parliament of October 1382; it may have been submitted before the resolution recorded in November 1383 (CPR 1381-5, p. 329). It is also possible, however, that it dates from further business on the same matter in 1385, when Hende was again requesting resolution (CPR 1381-5, p.576).
