Description

Name(s)
de Sandeford (Sandford), Robert
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Robert de Sandeford states that he received from the late king a small piece of land in Tebay and Roundthwaite in Westmorland, by commission of Chancery, for a term of seven years, which land was completely destroyed by the Scots, and that he built twelve houses for tenants and a water-mill there, but that the king has now given the land to Adam de Redeman for the same farm, losing Robert four years of his term. He request that he might have the land for the remainder of his term.
Nature of endorsement
Because both commissions were read before the council, and it was found from Robert's commission that his term is still current, and that Adam has the lands only at the king's will, the sheriff is to be ordered to have the tenements taken into the king's hand, and delivered to Robert, to hold for the said term; and Adam is to be ordered not to interfere with the tenements during Robert's term, and to hand over to Robert the issues he has received in the meantime, so that Robert can answer to the king.
