Description

Nature of request
Durant shows that the king is bound to her in the sum of 52 marks 10s. 3d. which her late husband loaned to him at Boston in the first year of his reign for which he had letters patent. She petitioned for an allowance of the sum at the last parliament at Westminster in the fourth year of the reign. A writ was sent to the treasurer, barons and chamberlains of the Exchequer to view the letters patent, and to make allowance to Durant if it was found that the loan was still unpaid. They have received the writ, but will not make payment or allowance, so that Durant requests remedy, and that execution be made according to the first award and order, so that she is not impoverished any longer.
Nature of endorsement
