Nature of request
Helewell shows that the king sued by a writ quare impedit against Thomas Wake for the church of Rowley, and recovered his presentment to the same by a plea and judgement rendered in common bench for a vacancy in the time of Edward II against his grant and statute. He requests that the king has regard for the grant and statute, and that the church was full a year before the making of the statute, and that he not be ousted from the church by judgement rendered upon the title if it is expressly against the intention of the statute, and that the king ratify his estate, that he be able to peaceably keep the church notwithstanding the judgement rendered on the title against the grant and statute of the king.
