William de Ryggewey complains that, on the Wednesday before Candlemas last William de Aune, constable of Tickhill castle, took sixteen pieces of his lead, each containing three and a half cartloads, from Bawtry and carried them to Tickhill castle for its supplies. The lead remains whole in the castle, and William requests its return, or that he may be paid for it.
Nature of endorsement
The keeper of the castle is to be ordered to inform in Chancery on the cause of the seizure etc., and, when the cause has been returned, justice is further to be done to him in Chancery etc.

One of a collection of petitions published on pages 387ff of Rot. Parl., vol I., which all seem to date from around 1322. This dating is confirmed by PROME, Appendix of Unedited Petitions, 1307-1337, Rotuli Parliamentorum I, pp. 387-415, which dates these petitions to 15 or 16 Edward II (1321-1323).
