Nature of request
Bettoyn requests that the king order the chancellor to grant him a writ of liberate to the treasurer for payment of his fee, which is in arrears, granted to him by the king's letters patent for the lands which he has lost in Scotland, so that he will then be equipped to serve the king in the Scottish wars.
Nature of endorsement
He is to show his letters in Chancery, and to have a writ there as is appropriate.
Note
One of a collection of petitions published on pages 387ff of Rot. Parl., vol I., which all seem to date from around 1322. This dating is confirmed by PROME, Appendix of Unedited Petitions, 1307-1337, Rotuli Parliamentorum I, pp. 387-415, which dates these petitions to 15 or 16 Edward II (1321-1323).
