- Nature of request
- Roger Gilt of Sproatley shows that when Richard Oysel, formerly bailiff of Holderness, was assigned by commission to let to farm the wastes of King Edward, father of the present king, in Holderness, he let five bovates of waste land with appurtenances in Sproatley to Hugh Gilt, the petitioner's father, and his heirs - as is enrolled in the exchequer. However, although Hugh was only ever seised of four bovates, he paid the rent for five for his entire life; and after his death Roger, his heir, has continued in this situation. Therefore he requests that he may either have seisin of the fifth bovate, which Walter le Feure of Sproatley holds, or that he may only be charged for four.
- Nature of endorsement
- The treasurer and barons of the exchequer are to be ordered that, when they have examined the enrolment, and, if necessary, enquired into the truth of the matter, they are to do justice etc.
